Named a National Historic Landmark in 1974, the Port Hudson State Historic Site preserves fortifications and artillery from the Siege of Port Hudson during the American Civil War. The site is located just south of St. Francisville in LA’s Plantation Country.
Highlights within the site include the Port Hudson Peace Monument, the collection of artillery, and six miles worth of trails crisscrossing the site. Be sure to visit both the on-site museum and Port Hudson National Cemetery for more info, or take in a Port Hudson reenactment.
