Located north of Baton Rouge, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport began as the Harding Army Air Field. During World War II, the United States Army Air Force used the Air Field for supplies and as a place to perform maintenance on the aircraft.
The 1,250-acre airport, featuring three runways, is used for general aviation, commercial flights, and military use. Travelers starting their journey from Baton Rouge, have the option to fly to Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Memphis, and Charlotte, via four commercial airlines.
