Formally known as England Air Force Base, the Alexandria International Airport is located northwest of Alexandria in Central Louisiana. The Air Force Base opened in 1942, during World War II, as a training facility for the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress aircrew.
Today, passengers travel on one of the three commercial airlines to Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, and Memphis. Conveniences such as parking and ground transportation are available for ease of travel. Million Air Flight Services, located at the airport, provides excellent training for those seeking their pilot's license.
